Biography
Phyllis Hodges, CFT, LHM has 30 years plus experience as a fitness and clergy educational trainer. Phyllis had the opportunity to open the Jim Dailey Aquatic Fitness Center, formally known as the War Memorial Fitness Center in 1992. She implemented health programs and developed programs at various city facilities in Little Rock (Dunbar Community Center, East LR Center, Southwest Community Center and the Adult Leisure Center). In addition to these services she was the Director of the first Girls Health & Fitness Summer Camp (Camp iRock) sponsored by the Arkansas Minority Health Commission which brought in yearly celebrities, such as Actress Raven Simone and 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Gymnast Dominique Dawes.
Mrs. Hodges has certifications in international fitness: *National License Personal Training *Certified Fitness Arthritis Instructor *Certified Exercise Safety *Certified National Dance *Certified International Sports Science *Certified Instructor “Get Healthy Stay Balanced (Nutrition)” She has been a Marathon Runner since 2008. She is an author of her first book, “A Divine Connection” and working on a Wellness DVD. She is the Fitness Specialist for Good Shepard Senior Center, Park Stone Retirement Center, Fox Ridge Retirement Center and the Manor Retirement Center. She attended Missionary Baptist Seminary, Agape College (formally Agape School of World Evangelism) and Full Counsel School of Ministry. As a Minister, Phyllis is committed to serving. As a Certified Licensed Professional Trainer and Clergy, she owns the only Faith-Based health and wellness center in the state of Arkansas, the Carousel Fit-4-Life Wellness Center. Her vision is shaping up the world spiritually, mentally, physically and financially. The services provided by Minister Hodges are unique because her educational experiences have taken her to The Nations of Belize Central America, Nassau Bahamas, Jamaica West Indies, Pietermaritzburg South Africa and Harare Zimbabwe. She produced health and fitness television segments for BET, KASN 38, KATV 7, KARK 4, FOX 16 and KARZ 42. Some of her highlights as a television personality were to interview Mohammad Ali, Comedian Sinbad, and the 1991 Miss Black America Marjorie Vincent-Tripp. In 2017 Phyllis received the Woman of Excellence Award for Health/ Social Service, presented by Sister Friends United, Inc. Starting In October 2001, until now each October 15th is proclaimed Phyllis Hodges Carousel day by the Governor Of Arkansas. |
